The Louisiana Project is based on a recent trip to New Orleans. I was a participant in a workshop, "Visual Storytelling" through the New Orleans Photography Workshop with Debbie Fleming Caffrey. I went initially to capture the atmosphere of the French Quarter, particularly the Architecture, but once immersed in one of the most interesting cultures in America, I found a new direction. My favorite photographer has always been Clarence John Laughlin, as I have always loved how he photographed New Orleans and Louisiana. I wanted to see how his influences would show up in my work. As I wondered the streets of the French Quarter, I felt the pulse of the city, as it translates through the senses. The images are set in a random pattern, rather than categories, as that was the way I experienced the city. Other locations were; River Road going towards Baton Rouge and the Old Metairie Cemetery, Lake lawn in Orleans Parish. I dispersed some of the photograph's of the photographers who were in the workshop, because they were such an important part of my experience.
